I agree that this event was a tragedy, but look around bad things are happening everywhere. There are people that have been in war for years. They see people dying, villages being burned to the floor all the time. Everyday they are happy to be alive, and fear that they might not make it another day. Here we are making a huge deal about the Sears tower destroyed and lives taken, not saying that we should not, but we are selfish for which we are lucky. We are lucky to be free, that we are protected and safe. Others would kill to get just a little of what we have.

Change of mind: Denis Johnson, 9/11
Everyone remembers September 11th 2001 as the day terrorists flew airplanes into the Sears tower. It was a horrible day that shocked people all over the United States. No one expected something like this happening to them. It was always the "other" people that bad things happen to them, not them. How could this happen to me? Why me?

Katya, I think you bring up a relevant point about 9/11 that most people fail to see. I completely agree with what you said about other people being in worse off situations than we were on this day and how people all over the world have to deal with death and tragedies on a day to day basis. It isn't fair that we got that attention on 9/11 just because we are America and because we apparently are one of the most important nations in the world. It also isn't fair that these innocent people in countries that are far worse off than the US don't get ANY attention when way worse things are happening to them just because they have the unfortunate luck of living in a impoverished country. You bring up a very good point about the 9/11 tragedy that I think everyone should know and think about because it is the reality of our world.
